When can I apply?

Please be aware that the following attractions close over the winter period, and applications for these will close earlier in the year.

How often can I apply?

We are accepting applications for children who have not previously experienced a magical day out with Merlin’s Magic Wand.

How many tickets can I apply for?

We usually limit an individual family to 5 tickets, for the child and immediate family members to have a magical day out at one Merlin Entertainments Attraction.

For organizations, charities and schools the allocation is up to 50 tickets.

Larger ticket allocations may be considered at the discretion of Merlin’s Magic Wand.

Can I have an annual pass?

As a day trip charity, we can only award tickets to one attraction for one day.

What do you accept as Proof of Eligibility?

A headed document/letter with a logo from an established or approved organisation confirming the child's condition e.g. doctor's letter, hospital diagnosis letter, consultant's diagnosis, confirmation from school. We cannot accept DLA letters or appointment letters as Proof of Condition or where a condition has not been confirmed as they do not contain all the information we require. Please note that if your documentation is more than a year old then we may require further proof.

You consent to Merlin’s Magic Wand using the information given on the application form, and further sensitive personal information that may be asked for, to enable Merlin’s Magic Wand to assess, process and audit your application and any future applications Merlin’s Magic Wand may receive from you.

Merlin’s Magic Wand will only hold the information for as long as is reasonably necessary to enable Merlin’s Magic Wand to assess, process and audit any application made by you.

Can I receive help towards the cost of travel?

In some instances we may be able to contribute towards the cost of travel to your nearest Merlin Entertainments attraction. We are unable to contribute to overseas travel.

Contributions towards travel are not guaranteed and are completely at our discretion. For residents outside of the UK full bank details are required should a contribution be required.

How do I know you have received my application?

If your application has been submitted correctly, you will see a Thank You message on the screen confirming this. You will also receive an e-mail confirming receipt of your application and setting out the timescales in which you can expect to hear further from us. If you do not receive the email confirmation in your usual Inbox, please check your spam or junk mail folders before contacting us.

I’m not receiving your e-mails, what should I do?

Sometimes, our e-mails may go straight into your spam/junk box. To ensure that our e-mails reach your inbox, please add admin@merlinsmagicwand.org to your contacts or safe list.

How long will it take for my application to be processed?

The initial review of an application may take up to 8 weeks. Please allow at least this length of time after making your application, before contacting us. We may then have further questions and may require further documentation. Once this has been received and processed, which can take up to 4 weeks, it can then take at least a further 4 weeks before successful applicants receive their tickets and any travel contribution.

It has always been the charity’s intention to support and bring joy to as many children as possible. With the increase in the number of applications we are receiving, our Trustees have agreed that we must now prioritise applications for children who we have not previously supported. We will respond to all applications whether or not they are successful.

When are the tickets valid?

Ticket validity varies by attraction, due to opening times and dates. There might also be restrictions on certain days of the year.

Once you have received your tickets, please check the reverse for validity, and if you have any questions, please contact the attraction directly.

What should I do if my tickets haven’t arrived?

You will be notified by us that the tickets have been requested. If you have not received the tickets within 4 weeks of this notification, please contact us.

How long will my travel contribution take to arrive?

Once we receive your receipts/proof of travel your cheque will take approximately 4-6 weeks.

Why didn’t my travel contribution arrive with my tickets?

Tickets are issued, in most cases, by each individual attraction and travel contributions are issued by the Merlin’s Magic Wand Finance Team, so will be received seperately.

Why I am unable to select my choice of attraction on the application form?

This could be for a number of reasons, and these are listed below.

  • Our limited allocation of tickets has been used up for this particular attraction.
  • The attraction closes for the winter period.
  • The attraction is new and not yet available for a day out with Merlin’s Magic Wand.
  • The attraction is not part of Merlin Entertainments Group.

Applications from Organisation?

Applications from Organisation must come from registered organisation specifically set up to help seriously ill/disabled children with its own bank account (excludes Councils/Hospitals)
