Here are some frequently asked questions about the Merlin's Magic Wand application process. Scroll down to view the questions.
Please be aware that the following attractions close over the winter period, and applications for these will close earlier in the year.
Our Charity continues to help more and more children every year but our resources are not unlimited and due to a high demand for tickets we are only accepting applications from those families or children we have not previously supported/have not visited us before (this includes those families with additional children with disabilities/illnesses). Our aim is to ensure that the maximum number of eligible children are able to enjoy a day out with us just as so many have already done.
We usually limit an individual family to 5 tickets, for the child and immediate family members (Main child, siblings and parents or guardians) to have a magical day out at one Merlin Entertainments Attraction. Additional tickets for your child’s registered carer will be considered.
For organisations, charities and schools the allocation is up to 50 tickets.
Larger ticket allocations may be considered at the discretion of Merlin’s Magic Wand.
Tickets obtained through Magic Wand provide access into the attraction. However please be aware that tickets (unless otherwise stated) do not include secondgate attractions and special exhibitions/extras/4D cinemas/waterparks. Tickets do also NOT include Ride Access Passes
As a day trip charity, we can only award tickets to one attraction for one day.
Paperwork must be on official headed paper with official logo (to confirm it's from a reputable source e.g. HOSPITAL LETTER) and Includes the child’s full name, date of birth and illness/disability or disadvantage

In some instances we may be able to contribute towards the cost of travel to your nearest Merlin Entertainments attraction. We are unable to contribute to overseas travel.
Contributions towards travel are not guaranteed and are completely at our discretion. For residents outside of the UK full bank details are required should a contribution be required.
As travel contributions take up to 35 days to process we unfortunately cannot guarantee you will receive this before your travel date, please take this into consideration before making an application.
If your application has been submitted correctly, you will see a Thank You message on the screen confirming this. You will also receive an e-mail confirming receipt of your application and setting out the timescales in which you can expect to hear further from us. If you do not receive the email confirmation in your usual Inbox, please check your spam or junk mail folders before contacting us.
Sometimes, our e-mails may go straight into your spam/junk box. To ensure that our e-mails reach your inbox, please add firstname.lastname@example.org to your contacts or safe list.
The initial review of an application may take up to 8 weeks. Please allow at least this length of time after making your application, before contacting us. We may then have further questions and may require further documentation. Once this has been received and processed, which can take up to 4 weeks, it can then take at least a further 4 weeks before successful applicants receive their tickets and any travel contribution.
It has always been the charity’s intention to support and bring joy to as many children as possible. With the increase in the number of applications we are receiving, our Trustees have agreed that we must now prioritise applications for children who we have not previously supported. We will respond to all applications whether or not they are successful.
Tickets (unless otherwise stated on a ticket) are to be used in the same year that you make the application. Magic Wand advises that you only apply in the same year that you wish to go.
Ticket validity varies by attraction, due to opening times and dates, There might also be restrictions on certain days of the year.
Once you have received your tickets, please check the reverse for validity, and if you have any questions, please contact the attraction directly.
You will be notified by us that the tickets have been requested. If you have not received the tickets within 4 weeks of this notification, please contact us.
Tickets are issued, in most cases, by each individual attraction and travel contributions are issued by the Merlin’s Magic Wand Finance Team, so will be received seperately.

Applications from Organisation must come from registered organisation specifically set up to help seriously ill/disabled children with its own bank account (excludes Councils/Hospitals)
