This month, a remarkable four-day journey brought together teams from across Merlin Entertainments for a powerful cause – and an unforgettable experience. The 53.6-mile trek from the iconic London Eye to SEA LIFE Brighton wasn’t just a physical challenge, but a celebration of unity, determination, and the magic of giving back.
The idea behind the walk was to encourage as many Merlin sites as possible to step away from the office environment during Mental Health Awareness Week and embrace the outdoors – all while raising money for Merlin’s Magic Wand. Spearheaded by Danielle, Head of Operations at Madame Tussauds London, and her passionate Guest Experience team, the walk took months of careful planning. Their vision? To create a unique and impactful event that engaged Merlin attractions across the South and supported the mission of Merlin’s Magic Wand.
Setting off from the London Eye, teams from London Southbank attractions, SEA LIFE Brighton, and various Resort Theme Parks down south laced up their walking shoes and hit the road. Teams were encouraged to meet at each 10–12 mile mark across the four days to collectively complete the full distance. Spirits were high, but the journey wasn’t without its trials. The SEA LIFE Brighton crew even faced an unexpected challenge – getting lost along the way! But with persistence, they rejoined the route, reminding everyone that this walk was as much about resilience as it was about distance.
The final day of the walk pushed participants to their limits, as they climbed a mountain with a 900m elevation – a fitting finale to such a meaningful challenge.
A huge shout-out also goes to Kiera from SEA LIFE Brighton, who played a key role in coordinating with the Merlin’s Magic Wand team. Her behind-the-scenes support and organization were instrumental to the success of the event celebrations – we truly couldn’t have done it without her!
None of this would have been possible without the drive and dedication of Danielle and her team at Madame Tussauds London. Their collaboration with multiple Merlin attractions and the Merlin’s Magic Wand charity team made the event a resounding success. Their efforts brought people together across locations and roles, all united by a common purpose – to make a difference in the lives of children who need it most.
The walk came to a heartwarming close at SEA LIFE Brighton, where walkers were welcomed with well-deserved cake, generously provided by Merlin’s Magic Wand. Team members received charity merchandise and took time to relax, reflect, and celebrate a journey well done. The atmosphere was filled with pride and a shared sense of achievement as teams from different attractions came together to mark the moment.
This 53.6-mile adventure proved that when passion and purpose align, incredible things happen.
