SEA LIFE Porto Delivers a Magical Moment for Brave Six-Year-Old Zyan

At just six years old, Zyan has already shown incredible strength. Originally from Mozambique, Zyan is currently undergoing treatment in Portugal for a serious hematological condition, which required a bone marrow transplant. With his parents and 12-year-old brother by his side, the family made the journey to Porto to ensure Zyan received the care—and the love—he needs during this critical time.
Thanks to a heartfelt application sent by Zyan’s doctor, in collaboration with the Portuguese nonprofit “Terras de Sonho,” SEA LIFE Porto stepped in to deliver a Magical Day Out through Merlin’s Magic Wand, offering a much-needed moment of joy and connection for this courageous young boy and his family.
Before his surgery, the SEA LIFE Porto team arranged and executed a joyful visit, giving Zyan the chance to experience a touch of home in a truly magical way. He got to meet and feed the attraction’s beloved giant turtle—an animal he adores and remembers fondly from his time in Mozambique. For a child undergoing intense treatment, this unforgettable encounter created a powerful moment of happiness and healing.
The experience was brought to life by the compassion and dedication of the SEA LIFE Porto team, including Diana, Guest Experience Team Leader, and Diogo, Aquarist, who made sure every detail of the day was filled with care and wonder.
