Bringing Imagination to Life with a New Magic Space in the Heart of Dongcheng

At Merlin’s Magic Wand, we believe every child deserves a safe and inspiring place to play, dream, and simply be a child. That’s the heart of our Magic Spaces program - transforming everyday places into extraordinary environments where imagination can flourish.

 

Our newest Magic Space, recently launched in Beijing’s Dongcheng District, marks a vibrant new chapter in that mission. Built in collaboration with Madame Tussauds Beijing, this space is located inside a community children’s home run by the Women’s Federation of Dongcheng District, which has been providing consistent care and enrichment for local children since 2014.

This Magic Space has been years in the making. Its design journey began before the pandemic and evolved through several stages, each one shaped by a shared vision: to reflect the rich cultural heritage of Beijing while sparking the universal joy of childhood. After a long pause and much anticipation, we were thrilled to finally celebrate its opening with the local community this spring.

 

Representatives from the Women’s Federation, community leaders, families, and Madame Tussauds Beijing General Manager, Isolde, gathered to mark the occasion. The true stars of the day, however, were the children. They proudly took on roles as hosts and special guests, bringing the event to life with energy and joy. One young girl delivered a captivating performance of Peking Opera, while others explored their creativity through hands-on wax art workshops.

 

Because the event coincided with both Children’s Day and the Dragon Boat Festival, the celebration extended into a larger space downstairs, where the Madame Tussauds Beijing team organized a festive lineup of activities. Children enjoyed face painting, archery, and pitch-pot games - classic traditions that filled the room with laughter and excitement.

 

This vibrant new experience brings together iconic local celebrities in an imaginative space where children can play, perform, and dream of all the possibilities the future holds. It’s a celebration of culture, creativity, and inspiration - designed to spark wonder in the next generation.
