PEPPA PIG World of Play Leidschendam was filled with something extra special. Laughter echoed a little louder, smiles came a little easier, and for a few precious hours, worries were gently left at the door.
Children from the Juliana Children’s Hospital and the Sara de Bronovo Mother and Child Centre of HMC were invited, along with their families, to a magical Sinterklaas morning designed just for them. A chance to play, to explore, and to simply be children again.
For many of the children attending, carefree play is not part of everyday life. Hospital stays, treatments, and uncertainty often shape their routines, affecting not just the children themselves but their families too.
That’s why PEPPA PIG World of Play, together with Merlin’s Magic Wand, wanted to create a moment where those worries could fade into the background. To make the experience as comfortable and relaxed as possible, the play centre opened especially before regular opening hours. This gave the children space to enjoy everything freely, without crowds, and with extra care for their health and wellbeing.
It wasn’t about a busy schedule or ticking boxes. It was about calm, joy, and feeling welcome.
“Distraction is very important, in our view at the Juliana Children’s Hospital. It allows children to forget for a moment that they are unwell. It is fantastic that PEPPA PIG World of Play has organised this for our patients.”
From the moment they arrived, the children were greeted with warmth by the PEPPA PIG World of Play team. Soon, the play areas were alive with excitement. Children climbed, slid, built, and laughed together, fully immersed in the world around them.
Throughout the morning, there were moments of discovery and creativity. A treasure hunt for the Lost Staff of Sinterklaas sparked curiosity and teamwork, while drawing tables offered a quieter space to colour and create.
Then came the moment many had been waiting for. Peppa Pig, Mummy Pig, Baby Evie, and Sinterklaas arrived together for a special meet and greet. There were hugs, waves, photos, and pure joy. From start to finish, the children’s faces told the story better than words ever could.
“We are incredibly proud to have organised this special morning together with Merlin’s Magic Wand. What touched us most was seeing these children forget everything for a moment and simply enjoy themselves. The happy faces when they meet Peppa and Sinterklaas made it all complete.”
For the children and families who attended, this Sinterklaas morning was more than an event. It was a pause from the hard stuff. A reminder that joy, play, and magic still have a place, even during difficult times.
And sometimes, a morning like this can mean everything.
