- Chessington World of Adventures Resort, Enhanced Magical Day Out
Romeo is a big animal-lover with a curious mind and a great sense of humour, so choosing Chessington World of Adventures Resort for his Magical Day Out was a no‑brainer! Romeo has been receiving palliative care for a heart condition and uses a wheelchair and portable oxygen due to fatigue and breathlessness. The Chessington team pulled out all the stops to give him a truly roarsome VIP experience - one filled with excitement, discovery and unforgettable moments.
The team planned every detail of Romeo’s day, including express parking, an accessible and inclusive giraffe feeding experience called a ‘floating head’, Fastrack passes, and a goodie bag filled with animal-themed gifts.
After a joy-filled day, Romeo said “It was rad! Everything was perfect and made me so happy.” His Mum, Donna, added, “As a family we got to forget our worries for the day and fill the day with laughter and joy.”
But the fun doesn’t stop there! The Chessington team heard that Romeo is a huge fan of PAW Patrol and that he wants to come back to the Resort for his birthday. They have since arranged for the family to have a hotel room when they return to enjoy World of PAW Patrol.
For a family whose lives are shaped by medical appointments, routines and complex logistics, this Magical Day Out meant so much more than a single day. It was a pause from the everyday, a chance for them all to be looked after, and the freedom to simply play, laugh and be together - creating magical moments they’ll treasure forever.
And for a child living with the realities of a complex cardiac condition, it meant simply getting to be a little boy - delighting in his love of animals and learning fun facts about giraffes while sitting right in front of them, as the keepers shared their stories.
