Merlin’s Magic Wand
February 13th 2017
Merlin’s Magic Wand has teamed up with LEGOLAND Discovery Center and SEA LIFE Kansas City Aquarium to create a bespoke new playroom for the children and families that visit the Children’s Mercy Centre in Kansas.
Located inside the Kreamer Resource Center for Families, the Children's Mercy "Merlin's Magic Space" features an underwater theme with a LEGO vibe. Patient families will be able to draw their own sea creatures and have them swim onto the big screen at the doodle reef station. The space also includes a magnet puzzle board, bubble tube, and more than one dozen LEGO models.
“This has been in the works for more than a year, but it has been well worth the wait,” said Linda Taloney, Kreamer Resource Center Manager. “The space has the SEA LIFE and LEGOLAND theme complete with colorful walls, but is still mindful of the relaxing environment of the Kreamer Resource Center for our families.”
Tracie Hogencamp from Merlin's Magic Wand, said: "We are delighted to dedicate this unique space for the patients undergoing treatments at Children's Mercy Hospital Kansas City. Together with the team at LEGOLAND Discovery Center and SEA LIFE Kansas City Aquarium we are committed to bringing a few smiles even beyond their treatment."
Founded in 1897, Children’s Mercy is one of the nation’s top pediatric medical centers . With not-for-profit hospitals in Missouri and Kansas and numerous specialty clinics in both states, Children's Mercy provides the highest level of care for children from birth through the age of 21. U.S. News & World Report has repeatedly ranked Children’s Mercy as one of “America's Best Children's Hospitals.”
Thanks to generous philanthropic and volunteer support, Children’s Mercy provides medical care to every child who passes through its doors, regardless of a family’s ability to pay.
Thank you to everyone who was involved in making this fantastic project happen.
