Liam’s Magical Adventure: From SEA LIFE to LEGOLAND® Florida

Liam was diagnosed with retinoblastoma, a rare eye cancer. His early years were filled with sudden challenges and brave battles. What started as subtle eye changes quickly escalated into a white pupil, pain, and the difficult decision to remove his affected eye. Six rounds of chemotherapy followed to ensure the cancer was gone, and he still has regular scans to monitor his health. Through it all, Liam’s curiosity, energy, and sense of wonder never dimmed.

Last December, a little magic was waiting just for Liam. He took centre stage at SEA LIFE Charlotte-Concord’s holiday tree lighting, surrounded by family, friends, and a buzzing crowd. The countdown rang out: three… two… one! With a wave of his magic wand, Liam lit up the Christmas tree, and the room erupted in cheers. But the surprises didn’t stop there - Liam’s wish was coming true. Thanks to our partnership with Kids Wish Network, he and his mom Staci were heading to LEGOLAND® Florida, complete with park access, an overnight stay, and plenty of magical extras. SEA LIFE Charlotte-Concord also gifted them annual passes so the wonder of the aquarium could continue all year long.

Boarding the plane, Liam’s excitement was palpable. When he arrived at LEGOLAND Florida Resort, the hotel sparked his imagination instantly. Their kingdom-themed room included a kid zone brimming with LEGO® bricks and a treasure chest filled with surprises. The disco elevators quickly became a personal stage, and every ride turned into an impromptu dance party for Liam and his mom.

Stepping outside, the park awaited. Liam discovered a love for roller coasters, riding his favourite three times in a row and even persuading his mom to join him. Life-size LEGO® sculptures, character meet-and-greets, and Minifigure Trading kept every moment exciting. He was over the moon when he finally received the Minifigure he’d been hoping for, and he’s already asking if he can go back for his birthday.

This trip was all about Liam’s favourite things. From Chili’s to Domino’s Pizza, every meal became a celebration, and his mum loved watching him light up with excitement at every moment.

After everything Liam has faced, this wish was more than just a fun adventure. It was a reminder that joy, kindness, and a little bit of magic can leave a lasting mark on a child’s life.
