By providing the updated sensory room the children have had a new place where they are able to learn, grow and develop. This is particularly important for children who spend extended periods of time at the children’s hospital. We have also seen an increase of children wishing to access the space including older children and teenagers. This is really encouraging and shows that the updated space does is now more than fit for purpose.
The equipment in the sensory room is fantastic and enjoyed by all of the children who use the room. All of the equipment serves varying purposes and can help to benefit the children in different ways for example the interactive display mat helps with mobility but the jellyfish lights help children to relax. I believe that the sensory room can continue to be developed around the sealife theme supporting children on an ongoing basis.
