London Under the Sea Magic Space!🦑

Our 55th Magic Space, located at St. Ann’s SEN School in Hanwell, West London, is a vibrant outdoor sanctuary designed for children living with serious illness or disability. Filled with sensory-rich elements and imaginative features, it brings the magic of Merlin to those who are unable to visit our attractions. Thanks to the dedication of our passionate volunteers, this once-overlooked space has been transformed into a place where children can feel safe, inspired, and free to explore.

In March 2025, we opened the doors to our 55th Magic Space at St. Ann’s Special Education Needs (SEN) School in Hanwell, West London.

This project was born from a shared dream to transform a once-forgotten outdoor area into a joyful, safe, and inspiring playground for children who may not be able to visit a Merlin attraction due to serious illness or disability. In close collaboration with Headteacher Tim and Business Manager Latha, and through the support of a brilliant network of Merlin volunteers, that dream became a reality.

Children from St Ann's School

Designers from The London Dungeon and Merlin’s Magic Making Studios created a “London under the sea” theme! And painters, gardeners and senior leaders all volunteered. It’s a space where children can explore, express, and enjoy the magic of play in a way that meets their needs. With sensory-friendly features like musical chimes and a herb garden, designed to support development and spark joy every single day.

Projects like this require time, teamwork, creativity, and funding. Each Magic Space costs around £30,000 to build, and because of generous supporters like you that we’re able to make dreams like this come true.
